The Agricultural Winery Cooperative of Tirnavos was founded in 1961 by wine growers of the province Tirnavo in order to develop and exploit the rich potential of grape production in the region. The agricultural cooperative of wine producers Tirnavos has about 500 growers who produce wine, spirits and beverages and distribute their products in almost all Greece and abroad.

The Association is governed by a seven-member Board of Directors and is headed by the General Director and his deputy. The sections are the Oenological, Production department, the Economic and Commerce and Marketing department. Participates in investment and research programs, is an active member of organizations and bodies of industry, participates inevents and exhibitions and is a benchmark in the local community.


Today the cooperative has 466 members growers of the region of Tirnavos that more accurately 283 members from Tirnavos, 100 members from Damasi, 39 members from Ampelonas, 20 members from Deleria, 20 members from Argyropouli, 4 members from Platanoulia.

The total of the vines which are grown by the members are 8259 acres of vine grapes. The quantities of the grapes processed annually by the winery are 10-13 thousand tons.

The products which are derived by this elaboration are about: 6,000 tons of wine, 400 tons of tsipouro and ouzo and 100-200 tonnes of concentrated and rectified concentrated musts.

Our products are sold almost all over Greece whereas a sum of them is exported (mainly in Australia). The permanent workers at the winery are 65 people (11 graduates), while during the period of harvesting are temporarily employed other 40 people.

The products of the cooperative release in more than 60 labels, ouzo, tsipouro and wine.

The facilities of the Association extend on a surface of 50,000 sq.m, while the ability to store in tanks is 130,000 hectoliters.


The production of wines and spirits in Tirnavos constitutes the center of economic, social and cultural life of our place for centuries. The wine, tsipouro and ouzo produced here is considered a living monument of culture.

An important part of this great history in recent years is the Agricultural Winery Cooperative of Tirnavos which since its foundation in 1961 and then, was marked out and developed the production and the tradition of the products of the vineyards of Tirnavos.


The vineyard of Tirnavos includes the vineyards of the municipalities of Tirnavos and Ampelonas and communities of Argyropouli, Damasi, Deleria, Dendra- Platanoulia and Rodia.It has a total area of 25,000 acres, of which 15,000 acres are grape varieties with predominant the red Muscat of Hamburg (10,000 acres)

The white grape varieties grown in the area are mainly: Roditis, Bantiki, Limniona, varieties grown for ages, and the "cosmopolitan" varieties such as Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet S., Ugni Blanc, Maccabeu, Chardonnay, Grenach-Blanche, Debina that found fertile soil too.
